Gordon Cooper Technology Center’s Carpentry and Foundations of Construction programs attended the Build My Future event hosted by the Central Oklahoma Home Builders Association Thursday at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds in Norman, Okla. The event offered interactive, hands-on exhibits from skilled trades that gave GCTC students valuable internship and future employment opportunities. Multiple students left the event with contacts from local construction companies along with opportunities to continue in their fields.
The week of October 19-23 is Careers in Energy Week to raise awareness of career opportunities across the energy industry and the skilled workforce needed to support it. Great connections in the making! This week, leaders from the Oklahoma Chamber, Shawnee Forward, OSUIT and Dawn Huggins with Bison Metals toured our CNC machine shop, welding, and electrical trades programs here at Gordon Cooper Technology Center. While touring the machining shop, the group caught up with Machining student Andrew Wilson, who recently completed his employment orientation with Bison Metals! Andrew did a fantastic job sharing insights about his program and his bright career path ahead.
