2341 Sprockets

 

FRC is a program of FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) for 9-12 grade students, focused on designing industrial robots to compete in an annual game on an alliance with other teams.

 

However, FIRST is More Than Robots, which means that students learn other skills through the FIRST Core Values: Discovery, Innovation, Impact, Inclusion, Teamwork, and Fun.

The mission of FIRST is to provide life changing robotics programs that give young people the skills, confidence, and resilience to build a better world. Not only does our team accomplish this during our build season, but we take our learned knowledge into the real world, making an impact in our community through our outreach initiatives.

FRC Team 2341 was founded in 2007 by Roger Farris and Kristi Stricklin. Initially known as the Sentinels, our team began with 8 team members from Gordon Cooper Technology Center. At the time, we had only 3 mentors, all of whom were employees of the Technology Center. From the beginning, our team has been focused on fulfilling the mission of FIRST and improving STEM in our community.

Today, our team consists of 22 student members and 8 mentors. Members are students at Gordon Cooper Technology Center in the Pre-Engineering Academy.

Our name, Sprockets, demonstrates the teamwork qualities we strive to emulate; and just like sprockets in a machine which connect and become one solid unit, we understand that we are only part of a whole. It takes all of us working together to accomplish our goals. FRC Team 2341 is devoted to going full circle by continuing our mission to spread FIRST and STEM; and building upon a culture that is comprised of tradition, family, and values.
